Procons Academy, a PMI® Authorized Training Partner (ATP) – USA, successfully concluded its one-day workshop on “Best Practices in International Project Management” at the CIDA Auditorium, Colombo. Led by industry experts, the session covered global project life cycles, procurement, contracts, and stakeholder management, equipping participants with practical skills and 6 PDUs.
Pro Consultancy International (Pvt.) Ltd., through its training arm Procons Academy, successfully concluded a one-day physical workshop on Saturday, 12th September 2026, titled “Best Practices in International Project Management” at the CIDA Auditorium, Colombo 07. Procons Academy is a PMI® Authorized Training Partner (ATP) – USA.
Held from 9.00 AM to 4.30 PM, the six-hour practical workshop brought together project managers, engineers, planning and procurement professionals, PMO practitioners, consultants, and students eager to build the knowledge and confidence required to work on international projects.
Registration and a Warm Start
The day began with on-site registration, where participants signed in, collected their workshop materials, and settled into the auditorium ahead of the opening session.
Why International Project Management?
As organizations increasingly execute projects across borders, project professionals must be equipped to manage work in diverse cultural, organizational, and regulatory environments. The workshop was designed around this reality, combining globally accepted project management principles with practical insights drawn from real international projects — helping participants understand both the challenges and the opportunities of working in global project environments.
The programme focused on the project life cycle in globally recognized projects, covering how internationally successful projects are initiated, planned, procured, executed, monitored, and closed, illustrated with real-world case studies from major infrastructure and development projects.
Expert-Led Sessions
The workshop was conducted by two highly experienced industry professionals:
- Tilakasiri Ekanayaka — PMP® (PMI-USA), PMI-RMP®, PMI ATP, MBA, B.Sc. Eng., Chartered Engineer and PMO Lead at Procons Group. An international project management consultant with extensive experience delivering mega infrastructure and industrial projects across the Middle East, Central Asia, and Europe, specializing in international best practices, PMO implementation, FIDIC contract administration, and project governance.
- Aruna M. Ananda — C.Eng., PG Dip in Structural Engineering, B.Sc. Eng., PMP®, Civil Engineer. A procurement, contracts, and project management specialist with extensive experience across nationally and internationally funded projects, with expertise in procurement strategies, contract management, and project delivery throughout the full project life cycle.
Throughout the day, the lecturers walked participants through the realities of managing mega infrastructure and industrial projects abroad, from multi-jurisdictional legal complexity and currency and financial risks to diverse stakeholders, variable technical standards, complex contractual frameworks, and workforce mobility challenges, while drawing clear links to how these lessons can be applied within Sri Lankan projects and local project management practice.

True to its practical design, the workshop combined structured presentations with open discussion, encouraging participants to engage directly with the lecturers, ask questions, and relate the concepts to their own project experience.
